St John 12.24
Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground
and die it abideth alone,
but if it die it bringeth forth much fruit.

By his Church and Society as a token of their respect
this stone is erected to the memory of
Rev Daniel Chessman
who died May 21, 1839 in the 52d year of his age,
21st of his ministry & 6th of his pastoral in this place.
His distinguished virtues as a husband & father,
as a man & philanthropist, as a Christian & minister
are embalmed in the affections of a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances.
Through all his lingering disease he was
entirely submissive to the will of God
repeating - Heaven is my home.
