Unidentified Fieldstone Grave Marker (F4-2005)

This fieldstone was flush to the ground as indicated in the left photo. It is located about 20' south of the Giles Hopkins monument and about 42' east of the Samuel Treat footstone. It was uncovered in July 2005.

The fieldstone was cleaned and placed upright as shown in the right photo. Dimensions in the upright position are 14" W, 10" H and 6" D. It has the shape of a fieldstone grave marker. Based on the stone position when flush to the ground, it appears the stone was facing west. It has been placed facing west.

There is no visible inscription on the fieldstone. This fieldstone grave marker could date from as early as the late 1600's.
