Hannah Prince, wife of Jonathan Sparrow as indicated on the monument, was the daughter of Governor Thomas Prence. He was elected Governor of Plymouth Colony three times. Both Prince and Prence appear in the old records but the more common spelling associated with the Governor's family is Prence.

The right photo shows the monument with a new granite base installed December 2006 to replace the broken base. Community Preservation Act funds paid for the new base.

The monument was cleaned with D/2 October 2008.
