This gravestone was present in a 1960 survey of Orleans Cemetery. In 2008 the Orleans Historical Society was contacted by the Metropolitan Art Gallery in Rochester, N. Y. who came into possession of the stone. The stone was returned to Orleans in July 2008. It became a front page story in the Cape Codder newspaper. The stone will be reset in its original position which is now occupied by a large bush.
