The gravestone death date July 25, 1882 is from the book "Provincetown Massachusetts Cemetery Inscriptions" by Cook & MacIntyre published in 1980.

Ron Killpack has pointed out that Captain Martin W. Cornell died January 24, 1882. He indicates the January 24, 1882 death is reported in the Barnstable Patriot January 31, 1882 on page 3 and in the King Hirams Lodge History. The Lodge attended his funeral.
