The granite monument is rectangular in shape. The Bristish ship JASON went aground a half mile north of the Pamet river Life Saving Station. Twenty six of her officers and crew perished and only one was rescued. Seven were never found. Sixteen were buried in a common grave in Oak Dale Cemetery. Three were taken for burial elsewhere.
